Somsak K.

Bangkok, Thailand

"I had a 7-hour layover on the way back from Osaka and did not want to sit in the terminal. Baan Rak was just a short ride away. The room was genuinely restful — quiet, dark curtains, a proper shower. The lady at the desk had a wake-up call set without me needing to ask twice."

"Overnight stay before an early morning flight. The shuttle picked us up at arrivals and brought us back next morning with time to spare. Breakfast was simple and warm — enough before a flight. The room was very clean and the Wi-Fi worked solidly the whole time."

"Good option for a transit stop. The room itself was fine — clean, quiet, the shower was the best part after a long flight from Heathrow via Doha. Breakfast was a bit light for my taste but it did the job. The family suite I booked for next time looks like a better size for us."

Anika N.

"We used the Long Layover Suite with our two children during a 20-hour stop before flying to Koh Samui. The sitting area made all the difference — the kids could watch something on the tablet while my husband and I took turns sleeping properly. The team tracked our departure and knocked gently when the car was ready."

"I am a frequent flyer through Phuket on the way to Krabi and have stopped at Baan Rak four times now. The staff remember me, which I like. The rest room is exactly what I need — a shower, a proper nap, tea. I board feeling like a different person every time."

"Booked the overnight room for a stopover on a work trip. The shuttle was on time and the room had everything I needed. I would have liked a slightly stronger shower pressure but that is a small thing. The desk staff were helpful with confirming my onward check-in details, which I had not expected."

Guest Stories

Three travellers, three different layovers, one honest account of what happened.

The Challenge

Anika was travelling from Frankfurt to Koh Samui with her husband and two children aged 4 and 7. Their Phuket layover was 18 hours — far too long for the terminal and too short for a full hotel check-in at normal rates.

The Stay

The Long Layover Suite gave the family a sleeping room and a sitting room, meals for each guest and flexible timing matched to their landing and departure. The team tracked the Samui departure and arranged a car 90 minutes ahead.

The Outcome

Both children slept for five hours. The parents rested in shifts. The family arrived at Samui without the delayed-flight exhaustion they had expected. Anika has since recommended Baan Rak to colleagues travelling the same route.

"Worth every baht. The children were calm, which made us calm."

The Challenge

Jae-won is a Korean business traveller who stops in Phuket three to four times a year on connections. His transit window varies between 4 and 8 hours, making a standard hotel stay impractical.

The Stay

He uses the Daytime Rest Room on each transit. The desk team have his preferences on file — tea, not coffee, a wake-up call 90 minutes before the shuttle time — and have the room prepared when he arrives.

The Outcome

Four stays over 14 months. Each one has been used to nap, shower and review meeting notes before the next leg. Jae-won now builds Phuket connections into his travel planning rather than avoiding them.

"The staff remember the tea preference. That is not a small thing when you are tired."
